About the Hindu Day of Simha Sankranti

DESCRIPTION:
Simha Sankranti marks the day when the sun moves from Karka Rashi to Simha, according to the Zodiac Calendar.
Simha Sankranti signals the beginning of Malayalam calendar in Kerala.
Devotees offer prayers to the sun god, Lord Vishnu and Lord Narsimha Swami throughout Kerala, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh.
Though Simha Sankranti is celebrated primarily in the southern states of India, it is also celebrated in the Kumaun belt of Uttarakhand.
